"And the thing to do, it seems to me…is to prepare yourself so that you can be a rainbow in somebody else’s cloud. Somebody who may not look like you…may not call God the same name you call God…if they call God at all. You see? And may not eat the same dishes prepared the way you do…may not dance your dances or speak your language. But be a blessing to somebody."

babies are naturally able to swim hello they just spent nine moths in amiotic fluid this is instinctive so no, parent is not shitty, parent is re-enforcing baby’s natural instinctive behaviour.
parent is good for doing this because parent is basically saying “yes the behaviours you were born with are great!”
Yup, if babies are ‘taught’ (allowed) to swim before they are six weeks old, they never lose the instincts they were born with that lets them hold their head above water and hold their breath when they need to. SCIENCE, man.
What’s really cool is, humans are the only primates known to have this instinct at birth. Other ape babies would just freak out and drown. So I don’t think it comes from being in amniotic fluid for 9 months (since it’s not like they have room to actually swim in there). It’s been speculated that humans evolved in the ocean at some point, which is a really cool theory that I recommend checking out.
Also, SWIMMING BABY IS ADORABLE.
I NEED SCIENCE TO TELL ME IF WE WERE MERMAIDS OR NOT
Phillip Island’s Penguin Foundation, a conservation group in Australia, are appealing for volunteers to knit little jumper for these little penguins who have been affected by oil spills or similar leaks from fishing boats. (x)
CAN WE JUST APPRECIATE FOR A SECOND THAT SOMEONE TOOK THE TIME TO NOT ONLY KNIT A PENGUIN A JUMPER BUT ALSO MAKE IT A PENGUIN PUBLISHING BOOK COVER JUMPER (x)
Guilermo Del Toro - How Pacific Rim saved his life
“I wanted to show that men and women can be friends without having a relationship,” says del Toro of the relationship between the two main characters Mako (played by Japanese actress Rinko Kikuchi) and Raleigh (“Sons of Anarchy” star Charlie Hunnam). “Theirs is a story about partnership, equality and a strong bond between partners. It’s important for little girls to know not every story has to be a love story and for boys to know that soldiers aren’t the only ones to triumph in war.” (via neverfeedthesarcophagi)
hannibal eating a heroin-flavored serial killer leg this week was definitely the grossest hannibal meal thus far
I was thinking about that and I think they might have said that the leg was removed PRIOR to the guy getting sewn into the centre of the eye, so the leg meat would have been tainted that way. like, in the first episode of s1 he’s all “im very careful about what i put in my body” so there is that i guess. I really doubt he’d risk heroin contaminated meat, especially if he was serving for guests.
i don’t think this checks out because when you cut someone’s leg off they end up losing copious amounts of blood and that guy did NOT look like he was bleeding a massive amount when hannibal put him to bed in the corpse painting. i could be wrong though.
recall however that hannibal is a surgeon, and thus would have tied off the arteries and veins as he went, preventing massive blood loss. except that doesn’t explain why eye-murderer wasn’t in agony/super-pissed-off during the sewing in. heroin acts pretty quick, not much time at fatal dose for chit-chat (kills via respiratory depression, you stop breathing). so perhaps a two step process? First hit post leg-taking, second hit for death

we seriously consider the logistics and health effects of eating human flesh tainted with narcotics
